Aerospace education
Principal strategic directions of the Center activities consist in realization of the youth policy of the Government in aerospace education domain; creation of favorable conditions for intellectual growth of the young generation, searching and all-round support of talented young people; formation of scientific-and-technical elite capable of ensuring the leading position of Ukraine in the field of aerospace and rocket engineering.
Comprehensive and diligent work with students and pupils is performed in classrooms-auditoriums where the Center organizes aerospace classes in cooperation with the Dnipropetrovsk schools of general education, lyceums, and gymnasiae. Here, the senior pupils of the Dnipropetrovsk schools gain special knowledge on state-of-the-art condition and prospects of development of cosmonautics, learn about the existing conceptions, theories, hypotheses on the structure, patterns, laws and evolution of the Universe, getting to know about the principal trends of mankind activity in space and near-Earth space environment, and studying the fundamentals of jet propulsion and space flight mechanics. For the period of the Center existence, all activities on space popularization among young people of Pridneprovye region were concentrated therein: aerospace classes with attendance on weekends enjoy great popularity. Children from more than 30 schools of Dnipropetrovsk and Dnipropetrovsk region study there.
Training schedule provides for meetings with prominent people which life and work is connected with development of domestic cosmonautics and rocket engineering; participation in various creative contests and festivals on aerospace topics. This form is the most favorable for all-round education of schoolchildren and their early career guidance. Young people from other cities and towns of Ukraine, in particular, Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov, Uzhgorod, Donetsk, Yevpatoria, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, have an opportunity to attend the Correspondence Aerospace School.
The valuable fact is that both experienced lecturers of the Center, and professors and teachers of the Dnipropetrovsk National University (DNU) named after Oles Gonchar, Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy, State Enterprise “Yuzhnoye Design Office named after М.К. Yangel” are involved in the educative process. On completion of study at aerospace class, pupils defend their graduation works and receive an addendum to the certificate of secondary education in accord with the established form.
